Health is Wealth

You must have heard the expression: ‘Health is wealth.’ Let’s ponder this truth. If you are healthy and scarcely see the doctor, you may take your health for granted. However, if you or your wife or husband is chronically ill; or if a son or daughter or even a relative that you have to look after are always poorly, it is a different matter. This is when you appreciate the truth that ‘health is wealth’.

Fear The Enemy of Your Faith

What is fear keeping you from today? Is there something that you are aspiring to accomplish, but rather allowing fear to hold you back? Fear interrupts the ability to have faith operate in your life. Fear is a twin of doubt and the enemy to your faith. Fear and doubt keeps you from walking in faith. It's a negative cycle that prevents you from receiving answered prayers and robs you from enjoying an abundant life. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1, NLT).

HEART MONITORING

Recently, I have had the need to wear a heart monitor, one of those little (not-so-little) devices that monitors heart activity and transmits signals to the powers-that-be to record “events” in my heart activity. There are three electrode leads that attach to the chest area and little beeps and buzzers let me know if electrodes are loose, affecting the connection.

Health Insurance Is Not Health Assurance

It is unfortunate that we have come to such a time as this. As of July 1, 2007, Massachusetts is the first and only state to require, by force of law, health insurance of every resident. Not only is it legally mandated but penalties will be visited upon the pockets of those who fail to comply with the law. It is likely that Massachusetts is the state that is piloting this new health care approach and that it will ultimately be coming soon to a HMO zone near you. It's not the mark of the beast but it sure sounds like the dragon.

There was a young lady who had spent many days wondering what her purpose in life was. Many years she spent searching for a reason and a rhyme to why things happened from one day to the next. It seemed that no matter which way she looked or which time she would pause she noticed that good things happened to everyone. Not only that but she also noticed that bad things happen to everyone.

Listen to the sounds of a satisfying supper. Slurping soup, gobbling fried chicken, absorbing the aroma of food land ecstasy. Lips moist with satisfaction, tummies accepting this feast of pleasure.

Another night of friendship gathered in our apartment; my wife and I, hostess and host for our bi-monthly sharing of a meal. It's ritualistic, satisfying and enjoyable, eating with our precious company, as fortunate citizens in Canada.
